Italians are among the darkest-eyed Europeans, but not the darkest. |
|
Italy should be broken down by region on that graph. Northern Italians have nearly half blue eyes, while in Calabria it's probably like 10%. |

Typical american pseudo-anthropologists creating silly maps about european pigmentation.. why dont you better make one of alabama instead lol This isn't an American anthropological study by any means! This is a genetical study that was done in Europe, the French sample is from Paris a much more diverse sample therefore could yield to a darker eye pigment than the one in the very north of Italy which was probably less diverse. Use your brain sometimes, instead of making jokes about Alabama, do you know how many people wish they could live Alabama? I've lived in Europe and I know many people who wished to live in America. Let's stay on the subject here, ! The map is based on DNA for eye color among certain European populations, but if you want to make jokes, you are not match for me!!! The sample used in the map for Italy was mostly a Northern Italian one, so you are most likely wrong. Not even the whole of southern France is 50% blue-eyed according to French studies, so less likely Northern Italy. I'm quoting facts according to scientific research and censuses, not of my own. I doubt only 28% of northern french have blue eyes, I would expect more like 40 have % and over half of them having light eyes. |

Some Sicilians have light complexions and blue eyes inherited from Norman settlers. |

Who knows? Sicily has a history of more than 5.000 years, so everybody has been there. It is not like the US, but a piece of Europe, so, who knows? Maybe the Romans colonized some farms with slaves from whatever place in terra ignota, who knows? Who cares? |
